As
with many small communities in British Columbia, Revelstoke has had
many highlights in its economic, social and cultural history.
Through this history, The Regent Inn has played an intricate part in
many of them.
|
In
the late 1920’s, two Hotels were built side by side on First street,
in the ‘new’ downtown area of Revelstoke. The Windsor Hotel (north)
eventually became the Regent Hotel and The Selkirk Hotel (south)
eventually became the Revelstoke Motor Inn.
|

|
These
two hotels competed against each other for many years and eventually
in the mid 1980’s they were amalgamated to become the Regent Inn.
During the 1980’s and 1990’s the two buildings were extensively
renovated and modernized. In 1999 the Hotel was again expanded and
renovated, so as now to be Revelstoke ‘s Premiere downtown Hotel.

with the Grand Steam Railroading and River Paddlewheeler days of the
roaring twenties, to the champion pioneer ski jumping events of the
30’s. Continuing, to the mining, prospecting and gambling days of the
forties and fifties, to the forest/sawmill boom and Canadian Pacific
prestigious passenger trains of the fifties. |
The
Sixties and Seventies saw the Trans-Canada highway construction, the
Mica Dam and Revelstoke Dam building days. The eighties brought with
them the CP tunnel construction and the transformation and
revitalization of the heritage downtown Revelstoke.

The
1990’s saw Revelstoke become the best Snowmobiling destination in
North American, and gain international recognition as the worlds
